Hauls plans will often have surplus material. If the surplus material is not suitable for any other use, you can choose to plan a disposal area to dispose material.
Borrow pits can be created in a similar way. Before creating a disposal area/borrow pit, make sure your project has at least one location.
Steps for creating a new disposal area/borrow pit:
1. Create new quantity type for disposal if that hasn't been already imported in your project. Navigate to "Suitabilities" tab in "Quantity type properties" window and define suitable quantities where material can be hauled from. Define quantities by selecting "Hauls possible from" and add quantities.
2. Create new quantity for "disposal/borrow". In quantity type properties window uncheck the box for "Maximize usage". This will only allow hauls of this quantity to disposal area if needed. In case of borrow pits, this will allow material used in fills if other cut material is unavailable.
Link with quantity type and set suitable location for disposal area. Location can be defined in "quantities" tab by setting start and end station for disposal area. Determine capacity of the disposal area/borrow pit by entering amount under quantities tab.
3. Re-calculate haul plan. Either right click project name and select "Calculate hauls" or navigate to Project tab and select "Calculate hauls".
4. Right click in Mass Haul and select "Show hauls" to view new hauls to disposal area or from a borrow pit.
